In 2007, a year before I became a Canonista, my family and I embarked on a two week tour of Asia, specifically Ho Chi Minh City, Sichuan Province and Hong Kong. This would have been my last trip abroad that was captured on film, with the help of a 5 year old Pentax SLR.
In those days I was not weighed down by gear (extra lenses and tripod) or even the fear of damaging my camera. I can see now that it gave me greater freedom to explore and shoot. Rather than landscapes and scenery I was more interested in the people and their way of life.
Perhaps it’s the cultural connection or equally likely, there’s an undeniable, unrestrained energy in the people everywhere I looked. I wonder, how much has it changed five years later?
