Food styling & shoot with Pukka Paki

A few weeks back I showed up at Sumayya’s doorstep, drowsy from the heat with a camera bag strapped to my back and tripod along with reflectors enveloped in my arms.  We had a job to do.

Sumayya (of Pukka Paki) prepared a feast with recipes from her native Pakistan for our day long photo shoot. This marked my first collaboration that gave me complete control over props, styling and photography.  I should have been overwhelmed but had too much fun sifting through Sumayya’s enviable prop closet and testing my creative muscle to create a scene for each dish.  There’s also the wonderful memory of Sumayya serving up the best biryani I’ve ever had.

Here are some of the images from the shoot that will hopefully stir up your appetite.  If you are looking to learn more about Pakistani cuisine you’d do well to visit Sumayya’s website for authentic recipes.
